The rebound in tourism across APAC post-COVID-19 is evident, with hotels in the region reporting strong demand and average occupancy rates of 67% from January to October 2024. As travel restrictions ease and air connectivity improves, inbound and outbound travel to and from Asia, including China, is expected to reach pre-pandemic levels, signaling a long-awaited comeback for the tourism sector.

To cater to the growing APAC middle class, hoteliers are ramping up their technology investments. According to Amadeus’ Travel Technology Investment Trends report, industry leaders are planning to increase technology investment by 16% in 2024, with a focus on digital media campaigns to target new guest segments and enhance the overall guest experience.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of hospitality, with 98% of hospitality leaders recognizing its potential benefits. GenAI, such as chatbots, is considered a game-changer, enabling hoteliers to identify upsell opportunities, personalize guest experiences, and streamline the booking process. These AI-driven solutions aim to enhance guest satisfaction and create more memorable travel experiences.
