This year, the festival will unfold in the picturesque Druid Hill Park on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, offering a free entry to all attendees.
Running from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days, AFRAM will showcase nearly 20 artists, including headliners Juvenile and the legendary Patti LaBelle. This festival is not just a musical event; it’s a cultural gathering that brings together families and friends to celebrate heritage and community.
What is AFRAM?
AFRAM, short for the African American Festival, is one of the largest Black cultural festivals on the East Coast. It serves as a platform to highlight African American culture, music, and art, making it a significant event in Baltimore’s annual calendar. Each year, the festival coincides with Juneteenth weekend, a time to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States, which was recently recognized as a federal holiday on June 19.
Now in its 49th year, AFRAM is organized by Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere filled with history, education, entertainment, and activities tailored for children. The festival is a space where people of all ages can come together to learn, celebrate, and enjoy.
