Delhi-NCR Shrouded in Haze: Foreign Traveler’s Experience Sparks Social Media Debate
A heavy, grey haze has enveloped the Delhi-NCR region, raising alarms about the deteriorating air quality and its associated health risks. The situation has ignited discussions across social media platforms, particularly following a viral video featuring a foreign traveler, Shane, who shared his alarming experience upon arriving in the capital.

Shane, who traveled from Agra to Delhi, expressed his shock at the pollution levels, stating, "It’s pretty bad. I came from Agra by bus, and the closer I got to Delhi, the thicker the smog was. You could definitely tell the difference. I could barely see the sun anymore."
Social Media Reaction
Shane’s comments resonated widely, prompting a flurry of reactions online. Users voiced their frustrations over the persistent pollution crisis, with one individual lamenting, “It’s a huge shame for all the lawmakers. This problem has persisted for many years, yet no solution has been found. What kind of image are we projecting to the world about Delhi?”
Others took a lighter approach, with one user joking, “Bro landed in Delhi expecting yoga retreats and found a live demo of ‘lungs before and after industrialization.’” Another simply posted, “Apocalypse,” highlighting the dire state of air quality.
Air Quality Concerns
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surged to 366 over the weekend, categorizing it as "very poor." Although there was a slight improvement on Monday, with the AQI dropping to 316, the air quality remained concerning.
As the haze continues to linger, the urgency for effective solutions to combat air pollution in Delhi becomes increasingly critical. The city, often dubbed the heart of India, faces a growing challenge in balancing urban development with environmental sustainability.
