Paula Cogan Named Head of EMEA Growth at Digital Realty

Digital Realty, a prominent global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center solutions, has recently welcomed Paula Cogan as the Managing Director for the EMEA region. This strategic appointment aims to drive the growth of data center operations and expand the reach of PlatformDIGITAL™ across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

With over two decades of experience in European telecommunications and infrastructure, Paula Cogan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role at Digital Realty. Prior to joining the company, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of euNetworks, a leading European bandwidth infrastructure provider. Her previous executive roles at Colt Technology Services and Verizon, along with her early career experience at BT, have equipped her with a deep understanding of the industry landscape.

In her new position, Paula Cogan will be based in London and will succeed Michel van den Assem, who is retiring after more than 20 years with Digital Realty. During his tenure, van den Assem played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s presence in the EMEA region. To ensure a seamless transition, he will continue to support the team until the end of May.

Andy Power, the President & Chief Executive Officer of Digital Realty, expressed his confidence in Paula Cogan’s leadership abilities, highlighting her extensive background in sales, operations, and strategic transformation. He commended her track record of engaging with customers and leading teams, emphasizing her role in driving the growth of the EMEA region.

In her own words, Paula Cogan expressed her excitement about joining Digital Realty’s leadership team at a time of significant evolution in the data center industry. With a vast network of over 120 operating data centers across 26 metros in the EMEA region, Digital Realty is well-positioned for continued growth. Cogan emphasized the importance of delivering optimized connectivity and performance solutions to meet the diverse needs of customers, ranging from hyperscalers to smaller enterprises.
