Gurgaon Residents Face Power Outages After Heavy Rainfall

Gurgaon, India – Following a night of torrential rain, residents of Gurgaon have taken to social media to voice their frustrations over prolonged power outages. The Delhi NCR region woke up to overcast skies on Sunday after being battered by thunderstorms and strong winds that uprooted trees and electricity poles, causing significant traffic congestion.

Power Cuts Plague DLF Phase 1

In DLF Phase 1, one resident reported an astonishing eight-hour power outage. “Oh, it’s 2025, and welcome to DLF Phase 1, Gurgaon—where a 5-minute drizzle still earns us a generous 8-hour power cut,” tweeted user Arjun, highlighting the irony of living in a so-called "millennium city."

Another user, Kapil, shared a photo of a downed electricity pole in DLF Phase 2, lamenting, “It’s been 10 hours and the state-of-the-art infrastructure is lost in just one rain in Gurgaon’s most posh society.”

Widespread Complaints

Residents across various sectors, including Sector 99 and Sector 13, echoed similar complaints. One user reported, “No electricity supply for more than 24 hours in Riddhi Siddhi society, sector 99,” adding that the water supply was also interrupted, leaving many in dire straits.

Sahil, another frustrated resident, noted that parts of Gurgaon had been without power for the entire night, questioning how such outages could occur when it’s not even peak summer.

Impact on Daily Life

The heavy rainfall not only disrupted power supply but also led to flight diversions and significant traffic jams throughout the national capital. As the city grapples with these challenges, residents are left wondering how a brief storm could wreak such havoc on their daily lives.

As complaints continue to flood social media, the local authorities face mounting pressure to address the infrastructure issues that have left many residents in the dark.
