Student Government Association Executive Roles Selection Process
Elon University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is gearing up for a transition in leadership as the new executive president and vice president prepare to be sworn in. However, the focus is also on filling the crucial roles of vice president of finance and vice president of communications.
Unlike the president and vice president positions, these executive roles are not voted on by the student body. Instead, applicants go through an interview process and are selected by the incoming president, Anya Bratic, and approved by the new senate.
The vice president of finance plays a key role in allocating student activity fee funds and working with the finance board to ensure that requested funds align with the organization’s bylaws. On the other hand, the vice president of communications is responsible for managing SGA’s social media platforms, website, and serving as a liaison between SGA and other student organizations.
This year, four individuals applied for the vice president of finance position, while only one person applied for the vice president of communications role. Despite the limited number of applicants for the communications position, current vice president Ella Kucera expressed confidence in the candidate’s abilities and emphasized the talent and passion of Elon students.
Bratic shared her excitement about working with the newly elected senators and expressed confidence in their abilities to lead. With a focus on finding the best fit for each role, the SGA interview committee is diligently evaluating candidates to ensure a smooth transition of leadership within the organization.
As the SGA prepares for the upcoming changes in leadership, the campus community eagerly anticipates the impact of the new executive team and senators on campus initiatives and student engagement.
