This weekend’s temperatures expected to be hotter than Ibiza

Date:

As the weekend approaches, the UK is set to experience a delightful spell of “fine and sunny” weather, with temperatures expected to soar in some regions, surpassing those of popular European holiday destinations. According to the Met Office, Saturday could see temperatures reaching 18C or 19C in parts of East Anglia, north-west England, the north Midlands, and north Wales. Senior meteorologist Craig Snell noted that while there may be a few exceptions in the far north of Scotland, the overall forecast promises dry and sunny conditions.

The pleasant weather is forecasted to continue into Sunday, with temperatures in central England potentially reaching up to 20C. Mr. Snell emphasized that the weekend will be warm, especially considering the time of year, making it an ideal opportunity for outdoor activities and soaking up the sunshine. In fact, holiday hotspots like Marbella in Spain or Italy’s Amalfi Coast could see lower temperatures than some parts of the UK, with Marbella expecting a high of 15C, Ibiza at 17C, and Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast reaching a high of 18C.

Thursday already marked the warmest day of the year so far in England, Wales, and Scotland, with temperatures hitting 19C in Santon Downham, Suffolk, and 18.2C in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion. Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens even recorded a high of 16.8C, the earliest on record for such temperatures. However, the UK is bracing for a temperature drop next week, as Mr. Snell warned of incoming cloud cover and rain, signaling a significant cooling trend.

In the meantime, it’s advisable to make the most of the warmth this weekend by planning outdoor activities and enjoying the sunshine.
