Peace Summit in Egypt: Trump and El-Sisi to Lead Efforts to End Gaza Conflict

Gaza Peace Summit Set to Take Place in Egypt Amid Ceasefire Developments

Cairo, Egypt — October 12, 2025 — In a significant diplomatic effort to resolve the ongoing conflict in Gaza, an international peace summit is scheduled for Monday in Sharm el-Sheikh, co-chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. This pivotal meeting aims to finalize an agreement to end hostilities and promote stability in the Middle East.

The summit, aptly named the "Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit," will gather leaders from over 20 nations, reflecting a united front in the pursuit of peace. According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the summit’s primary goals include halting the war in Gaza, enhancing regional security, and establishing a new phase of stability.

This diplomatic initiative follows a recently brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which took effect after three days of intensive negotiations facilitated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States. The initial phase of the agreement includes the withdrawal of Israeli troops from key areas in Gaza, the opening of five humanitarian crossings, and the release of hostages.

As the world watches closely, a large crowd gathered in Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square on Saturday, where families of captives expressed their hopes for the return of their loved ones. The emotional gathering highlighted the community’s resilience and solidarity, with attendees chanting "Thank you, Trump" in recognition of the U.S. administration’s role in facilitating the ceasefire.

French President Emmanuel Macron is also expected to arrive in Egypt on Monday to show support for the ceasefire and discuss the next steps in the peace process with fellow leaders. His visit underscores the urgency of international collaboration in addressing the humanitarian crisis that has unfolded in Gaza, where over 67,000 lives have been lost due to prolonged military operations.

As the summit approaches, the global community remains hopeful that this gathering will pave the way for lasting peace and stability in a region long plagued by conflict.
