"RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat: The Bhagavad Gita as a Guiding Light in a Confused World"

Gita Offers Timeless Wisdom for a Conflicted World, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Lucknow — In a powerful address at the Gita Prerna Mahotsav on Sunday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the Bhagavad Gita’s relevance in today’s tumultuous world, highlighting its potential to guide humanity through moral confusion and conflict.

Bhagwat articulated that the Gita is not merely a text to be recited but a way of life to be embraced. "We are here because the Gita has to be lived, not just recited. Its 700 slokas must be read, contemplated, and applied in our daily lives," he stated, urging attendees to internalize its teachings.

Drawing a poignant parallel between Arjuna’s existential crisis on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and the current global landscape, Bhagwat remarked, "The world today is lost, exhausted, and directionless." Despite advancements in wealth and comfort, he lamented the pervasive absence of peace and moral clarity.

He underscored the Gita’s role in providing courage and clarity, echoing Krishna’s guidance to Arjuna: "Do not escape. Stand firm, confront the problem, and act without ego or fear." Bhagwat emphasized that true strength lies in selflessly fulfilling one’s duties, asserting that even small acts done for the welfare of others hold immense value.

Reflecting on India’s rich civilizational heritage, Bhagwat noted, "India was a world leader once. It endured invasions for centuries and still stands. To rise again, we must understand our essence." He called for a collective effort to study and embody the Gita’s teachings, envisioning a future where India reclaims its status as a vishwaguru, or world leader.

Bhagwat also praised initiatives aimed at making the Gita’s wisdom more accessible through practical interpretations, encouraging individuals to incorporate its lessons into their lives for personal and societal transformation.

As the event concluded, the RSS chief’s message resonated: by living the Gita, individuals can catalyze change within themselves and their communities, steering India towards a brighter, more harmonious future.
