In a dazzling display of teamwork and skill, the Sequim Wolves triumphed over Bremerton with a decisive 5-0 victory during their home opener last Thursday night. This match was not just about the goals; it showcased a comprehensive performance that highlighted both offensive prowess and defensive dominance.
A Night of Scoring
Five different players found the back of the net for Sequim, underlining the team’s offensive versatility. The scoring opened with Adalie Eastburn, who confidently netted a goal in the 11th minute. Shortly after, Harper Moore stretched the lead to two in the 25th minute, setting a strong precedent for the rest of the game.
The excitement didn’t stop there. Freshman sensation Emme Henrikson made an impact early in the second half, adding her second goal of the season in the 48th minute. This performance has football fans excited about her potential as the season progresses.
Areya Weston-Webb contributed a memorable moment with her varsity debut goal in the 63rd minute. Coach Tristan Fricker remarked, “That was probably the highlight of the match; we were all excited for that one.” Finally, the momentum ended with a determined effort from Kaiya Robinson, who refused to let the game close without scoring, landing a final goal in the 80th minute.
Defensively Impeccable
Equally noteworthy was the Wolves’ suffocating defense. Coach Fricker emphasized that the team didn’t allow a single shot on goal. This defensive prowess was facilitated by key players like Harper Moore, Brooklynn Schmidt, Roan Curran, and Kalea Keate. The substitutes also made significant contributions, reflecting a cohesive unit that was well-prepared and engaged.
“Our back line showed remarkable stability,” Coach Fricker commented. “They worked hard to protect our goal, allowing us to control the game.”

Looking ahead, Coach Fricker expressed optimism for the season. With players like Henrikson already contributing significantly, the Wolves are in a strong position. Furthermore, he highlighted the performance of the junior varsity squad, which secured an impressive 8-0 victory in their match, indicating a bright future for Sequim soccer.

The spirit of competition extended beyond Sequim. In another exciting encounter, Port Angeles defeated North Mason 3-0 in their Olympic League opener. Lily Lancaster set the tone early with a goal just three minutes in, followed by further strikes from teammates Emma Desjardins and Mariah Traband.
Coach Daniel Horton praised his players, noting the contributions from each goal scorer and the team’s overall cohesion. “Our three goal scorers played well, and the entire team demonstrated great chemistry,” he said.
Volleyball Highlights
In volleyball, the Roughriders also put in a strong performance with a 3-0 victory over North Mason. Coach Alyssa Wetzler Boyer remarked on the team’s collective effort, stating, “The girls are coming together and they are finding their groove.” Key players included Kayleigh Sargent, who served impressively, alongside London Bourland and Jordin Dunaway, making a significant impact on the scoreline.
Additionally, the Sequim Wolves volleyball team delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Bremerton 25-15, 25-9, 25-12. The defining factor was their exceptional serving, with a staggering 96 percent success rate. Freshman Zary Durham shone brightly, recording a remarkable 10-point serving streak, further solidifying her growing reputation in the game.
