Tragic Shooting of Police Constable in Karachi Raises Security Concerns

Karachi, Pakistan — In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a police constable was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Karachi on September 18. The victim, identified as Constable Sadam Hussain, was targeted while at a puncture shop repairing his motorcycle when four men in a white car opened fire.

Authorities reported that investigators recovered five spent 9mm pistol shells and one 30-bore pistol shell from the scene, underscoring the violent nature of the attack. The constable’s body was subsequently transported to a private hospital near the National Stadium.

Sindh Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Langah has taken immediate action, directing the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West to submit a report on the incident and ensure a thorough investigation. He emphasized the importance of gathering forensic evidence and eyewitness statements, urging officials to expedite the process and provide updates on any arrests made.

This tragic event marks the second targeted attack on police personnel in recent weeks. In August, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Khan Abro was gunned down outside his residence in Bin Qasim Town, raising alarms about the safety of law enforcement officers in the region. Following that incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had also demanded a detailed report and swift action against the perpetrators.

As Karachi grapples with rising violence, the community is left questioning the safety of its police force and the effectiveness of measures in place to protect those who serve and protect. The investigation into Constable Hussain’s murder continues, with hopes that justice will be served swiftly.
