Timbertales: A Luxurious Retreat in the Heart of Coorg

Set amidst the verdant and gentle hills of Coorg – one of Southern India’s most popular hill stations – Timbertales, which opened in January 2025, is a breathtaking retreat into the embrace of Mother Nature. This enchanting resort promises to tell a story of tranquillity and romance to everyone who lends it an ear.

Over my three days spent at Timbertales, I can safely say that this place is more than just a resort. It is an experience where every rustling leaf whispers an ode to peace and beauty, where nature and well-being meet in perfect harmony. The resort’s heart beats with the spirit of Bali, where bamboo – graceful and boundless – takes center stage, reflecting a sense of freedom and connection to the earth. Open spaces, bathed in golden light, invite you to become one with the forest, to breathe in its magic, and to find peace in the seamless coupling of nature and design.

Hotel

Global Sophistication Meets Local Craftsmanship

Timbertales is set across 100 acres of lush, unspoiled beauty, featuring a plethora of intimate villas, two restaurants, a coffee experience center, a spa, and a glorious reception area. This haven is crafted for those seeking solace and the purest escape from the world’s bustle.

Designed by the renowned Indian architect Abdul Manan, the resort’s architecture possesses a lyrical quality where global sophistication dances gracefully with the timeless elegance of local craftsmanship. The villas, crafted from rich laterite stone, stand as silent sentinels amidst the green, their presence serene, their luxury understated yet profound.

A Focus on Luxury and Comfort

Timbertales boasts 71 villas, each crafted with a focus on luxury and comfort. The Windchimes duplex villa offers a unique experience, where guests descend into a beautifully designed room and wake up to stunning nature views, making it perfect for couples with distinct personalities. The Riverstone family villa caters to families by blending togetherness and personal space with interconnected staircases, large balconies, and a seamless connection to nature.

For those seeking a serene retreat, the Mistwood pool villa is designed for young families to enjoy breathtaking views from its infinity pool. Lastly, the Forestlight luxury villa spans 3,200 square feet of opulent space, featuring an open living area, an in-house therapy space, an open-air shower, a Jacuzzi, and an infinity pool that overlooks the resort’s man-made lake, offering a truly unique and luxurious experience.

Food and Drink

A Culinary Journey at Bamboo Buzz

With a belief that food is central to creating lasting holiday memories, the resort’s all-day dining restaurant, Bamboo Buzz, boasts over 250 specially curated dishes on its menu, each providing a distinctive pan-to-plate dining experience. This concept offers guests an immersive experience where they can see and ensure that each dish is prepared fresh, authentic, and bursting with flavor.

Meanwhile, The Cellar Lounge Bar invites guests to relax in Winchester-style seating with an elegantly designed bar, making it a must-see destination. For those seeking plant-based delights, Twisted Basil serves as a Balinese-style culinary sanctuary with a dedicated vegetarian kitchen, private dining pods on a serene water body, and lush tropical surroundings offering panoramic views. Each curated set menu features a luxurious seven-course meal designed to satisfy and delight every palate.

Spa and Wellness

Revitalization at Viyoma Spa

Spanning 27,000 square feet over three levels, the resort’s spa, Viyoma, is where the harmony of nature and tradition revitalizes one’s mind and body. The spa features 25 therapy rooms offering Swedish, Balinese, aromatherapy, and Ayurvedic treatments, and also boasts the region’s only Turkish hammam. Guests can unwind in the panoramic sauna, which provides a tranquil atmosphere and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, the spa offers specialized skin and hair care treatments and even wellness programs for children, thoughtfully designed to nurture their well-being and support holistic development.

To Do

Embrace Nature and Adventure

At Timbertales, they say that ‘boredom is never an option!’ Guests can enjoy nature walks guided by expert naturalists, participate in curated yoga sessions by the lake, or try kayaking. The infinity pool, Ripples, offers stunning views of the lake and features a bar for a relaxing experience. For children, the exclusive Funky Turtle play area provides fun activities that encourage screen-free, interactive play.

Additionally, The Modur Kaapi Coffee Experience Centre gives guests a behind-the-scenes look at the coffee-making process, from bean selection to brewing techniques, showcasing the resort’s unique bean-to-brew concept with a variety of local brews to sample.

For those who choose to venture outside the resort, Coorg – also known as Kodagu – offers a range of exciting activities amidst its stunning natural beauty. Trekking through the misty hills of Tadiandamol Peak or exploring the scenic trails of Abbey and Iruppu Waterfalls are must-do activities. Adventure lovers can indulge in white-water rafting on the Barapole River, while wildlife enthusiasts will find the Nagarhole National Park to be the perfect getaway.
